You can set up a hot folder for screened input files, such as 1-bit TIFF files. (Virtual printers are not supported for these file formats.)


  1. In Proofer Viewer, select Configure > Hot Folders.
  2. Click New.
  3. Perform the following actions:
    1. Provide a unique Name for the hot folder.
      Tip: Include the expected number of separations in the hot folder name—for example, 1-bit_TIFF_6_seps.
    2. Under File Input Type, select Hot Folder.
    3. Select a Layout and a Media Configuration.
    4. In the Halftone Handling list, select Screened input files, Descreen to produce contone proofs or Screened input files, Resample to produce halftone proofs.
      For the Screened input files, Resample option, you must select a media configuration with a resolution of 1440 × 1440 dpi.
    5. In the Color Handling list, select a color preset.
  4. Record or copy the displayed File Input Location—you will need this path when exposing the hot folder.
  5. Double-check your selections, and click Next.
    Only the Layout selection can be changed later; the other presets are not editable.
  6. On the Input Files tab, perform one of the following actions:

    For this input file type:Select this option:

    1-bit TIFF files, which can include .tif, .tiff, .vps, or .len file types

    1-bit TIFF Files Only

    DCS 1 and DCS-2 single- and multi-file formats

    Other File Types

  7. Click Setup, and complete the Screened File Settings and Screening Settings dialog box options as needed.Ensure that you select the workflow system that is used to generate the input files and specify the screening settings.

  8. (Matchprint Inkjet) If you are using spot color separations, click the Spot Colors tab, and select a spot color library.
  9. Set the other options as desired.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Submit the files to the proofer.
    Note: If the input files have a master file, send the master file to the hot folder before sending the separation files.
