The best way to evaluate whether the substrate effects settings in the media configuration emulate your press work is to process a test file, view the results in the High Resolution Sheet Viewer, and edit the media configuration settings as needed.

Note: While evaluating and tweaking media configuration settings for substrate effects, do not set up the workflow for the Certified Process for Color Confirmation.

1. In the Media Configuration Editor, in the Substrate Effects area, select a substrate in the Emulation list, and click Settings to define the emulation.
2. Set up your workflow software to process the test file using the media configuration file and an ICC profile appropriate for the media.
For example, prepare a hot folder if using Kodak Proofing Software with Open Connectivity Kit or a process template if using a Prinergy workflow with direct connectivity.
3. Submit a test file for processing.
4. Perform any of the following actions:
   ○ Open the High Resolution Sheet Viewer and evaluate the emulation of the substrate.
   ○ Print the sheet and evaluate the emulation of the substrate on the proof.

5. If needed, edit the media configuration to tweak the Substrate Effects settings.
6. Repeat this procedure until you are satisfied with the emulation.
