To achieve suitable production performance, the following proofer controller specifications are suggested for workstations provided by dealers. (For the preferred upgrade or dealer-installed system configuration, see the latest Kodak workstation specifications.)

Operating systems

Supported versions, in order of preference:

  • Windows 10 Professional (32-bit, 64-bit)
  • Windows 8 or 8.1 Professional (32-bit, 64-bit)
  • Windows 7 Professional (32-bit, 64-bit)

    Notes:

    • Other Windows editions are not supported—for example, do not use a Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Enterprise, or Ultimate version, because successful installation and operation cannot be guaranteed.
    • Windows XP Professional may continue to be used, although older workstations may need to be replaced. See also portal answer 69282.

System RAM4 GB
Note: RAM requirements are affected by the number of proofers that the proofer controller drives.
ProcessorIntel Premium dual-core processor at 2.66 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache
For optimal performance—Intel Quad Core i5, 3.1 GHz, 6 MB cache
Hard disk drive
  • 2 x 250 GB, 6.0 Gb/s SATA with 8 MB DataBurst cache
  • At least 40 GB of available space—100 GB or more may be needed if many screened files are maintained.

Note: Program files occupy approximately 5 GB. The rest of the space is required for processing files.

NetworkingEthernet NIC—gigabit preferred for networks with multiple attached proofers. Otherwise, any speed Ethernet will work.
Note: Controllers and proofers should be connected to the same Ethernet switch (preferably Gigabit), rather than to an Ethernet hub, especially if the network must support the four-proofer feature.
Secondary storageDVD+/-RW drive
Other
  • Video card, sound card, keyboard, mouse
  • Monitor with minimum preset resolution of 1280 x 1024
  • USB port for the license dongle
  • Additional ports as needed for any USB-connected devices used—for example, spectrophotometer, printer, or monitor

Note: When installing this software alongside existing software, also take into account the system resources that are already being consumed. For example, the same amount of disk drive space used by existing configuration data will also be required for the migrated copy of configuration data.
