Kodak Veris has five built-in media layouts with proof control strips.

  • The default layout is 1up-SheetCS. To change the layout, in the output process template, Layout section, Veris Layouts list, select a layout.
  • The maximum proof size for each layouts depends on whether you are printing captions or control strips or both.
  • Layouts with the proof control strip give you the option to print one control strip per proof.
  • All the layouts allow you to print a caption with each proof.
  • If you are using the Certified proofing process quality control, proofs are printed with captions and control strips. Otherwise, captions are optional. To print captions, choose the captions option in your digital front end, or in your hot folder or virtual printer's Layout settings tab.

1up-ProofCS Layout

  • With this layout, if you are proofing without a caption or control strip, the maximum size of the proof is 21 x 28.5 inches (53.34 x 72.39 cm).
  • If you are proofing with a control strip and without a caption, the maximum size of the proof is 21 x 27 inches (53.34 x 68.58 cm) or 19.5 x 28.5 inches (49.53 x 72.39 cm), depending on whether the control strip is placed below or to the right of the proof.
  • If you are printing a caption as well as the control strip, the maximum size of the proof is:

21 x 26.5 inches

53.34 x 67.31 cm

If both the control strip and caption are placed below the proof

19.5 x 28 inches

49.53 x 71.12 cm

If the caption is below the proof and the control strip is to the right of the proof

20.5 x 27 inches

52.07 x 68.58 cm

If the control strip is below the proof and the caption is to the right of the proof

19 x 28.5 inches

48.26 x 72.39 cm

If both the control strip and the caption are to the right of the proof

2upGrid-ProofCS Layout

  • The image area is divided horizontally into two equal parts.
  • Without a control strip or a caption, the maximum proof size is 21 x 14.25 inches (53.34 x 36.195 cm).
  • With a control strip and without a caption, the maximum proof size is 21 x 12.75 inches (53.34 x 32.385 cm) or 19.5 x 14.25 inches (49.53 x 36.195 cm), depending on whether the control strip is placed below the proof or to the right of the proof.
  • If you are printing a caption as well as the control strip the maximum size of the proof is:

21 x 12.25 inches

53.34 x 31.115 cm

If both the control strip and caption are placed below the proof

19.5 x 13.75 inches

49.53 x 34.925 cm

If the caption is below the proof and the control strip is to the right of the proof

20.5 x 12.75 inches

52.07 x 32.385 cm

If the control strip is below the proof and the caption is to the right of the proof

19 x 14.25 inches

48.26 x 36.195 cm

If both the control strip and the caption are to the right of the proof

4upGrid-ProofCS Layout

  • The image area is divided horizontally and vertically into four equal areas.
  • Without a control strip or a caption, the maximum proof size is 10.5 x 14.25 inches (26.67 x 36.195 cm).
  • Without a control strip or a caption, the maximum proof size is 9 x 14.25 inches (22.86 x 36.195 cm).
  • If you are printing a caption as well as the control strip the maximum size of the proof is:

9 x 13.75 inches

22.86 x 34.925 cm

If the caption is below the proof and the control strip is to the right of the proof

8.5 x 14.25 inches

21.59 x 36.195 cm

If both the control strip and the caption are to the right of the proof.
Note: Because the control strip is 11.6 inches (29.464 cm) wide, it cannot be placed below the proof.

BestGrid-ProofCS layout

This layout places proofs according to size. It automatically selects the layout (1up-ProofCS, 2upGrid-ProofCS, or 4upGrid-ProofCS) that allows for the most proofs per sheet. The control strip and caption (if printed) are placed below proof or to the right of the proof and rotated 90°, depending on what results in the best fit.

Scatter-ProofCS layout

This layout positions proofs in rows, as close to each other as possible. Each row is placed as close as possible to the one above it. The proofs are arranged so that they can be separated using straight cuts across the sheet. As many proofs as possible are placed on the sheet.

The image area is 21 x 28.5 inches (54.34 x 72.39 cm). Control strips and captions (if printed) are placed below each proof or to the right of each proof and rotated 90°, depending on what results in the best fit and allows for straight cuts.
