Use Mixed Files to PS when outputting separated PDF files. If you are outputting composite PDF files, use the Preps PDF-to-PDF workflow. See Creating a PDF to PDF Preps imposition plan.
Important: You cannot create imposition files using a mix of PDF and PostScript files because Prinergy Evo only accepts PDF files for output. You must refine or distill your PostScript files before creating an imposition plan.
- On your Prinergy Evo client computer, mount the shared folder (for example, JobData) that contains your PDF files.
The PDF pages must be in a folder or on a shared network volume on your Prinergy Evo server computer. - Open the mounted work folder.
- Start Preps.
- From the File menu, select New Job > Mixed Files > PS.
- From your mounted work folder, drag PDF files that you want in your imposition layout to the Preps Run list section in reader order.
Important: The PDF pages must be in a folder on which the Prinergy Evo server computer has read, write, and modify privileges. - Add blank pages as necessary.
Note: Adding blank pages in Preps can cause problems with Preps's marks, spot-color, automatic-mapping features, because Preps puts those colors into the content spot color list instead of leaving them in the marks spot color list. - If your PDF files are not in reader order, click Add Files, and individually add each PDF file you want linked to the imposition plan, or reorder the files within the Run List.
- In the Run list section, add your page geometry, as required, to each page.
- In the Signature Selection section, assign the signature template.
- In the Binding Style list, select the type of binding.
- Click the Layout Details to assign your layout geometry, for example, offset margins and so on, to the sheet.
- From the File menu, select Fitting/Tiling Setup.
- In the Fitting/Tiling dialog box, clear all check boxes, and set all values to 0.
- Set the remaining parameters as required.
- From the File menu, select Print.
- In the Print dialog box in the Device list, select a preconfigured device option. For information on configuring devices in Preps, see your Preps documentation.
Note: Preps software displays the device's PPD Model Name entry-- for example, Lotem 800 Quantum-- instead of the PPD name. - In the Destination list, select Adobe Job Ticket or JDF.
- In the Specify Export Range area, Range box, enter the range of signatures you want to output.
- Set the remaining parameters as required.
- Click Print.
- In the Save as dialog box, select a location and enter a file name. The generated files must be saved in a location that the Prinergy Evo server computer can access.
Two files are created:
filename.jt.pjtf
orfilename.jdf
, which is the job ticket (imposition plan)filename.ps
, which contains the marks information
Convert the marks (filename.ps
) file to PDF before submitting the imposition plan. If you have a refine to PDF workflow, the filename.ps information can be converted to PDF automatically when you submit the file to a refine to PDF template submission channel. Otherwise, use Acrobat software to distill the marks file using the recommended settings.
