When you send files to a digital printer using process templates, you can choose from two output types in the Output To list of the process template.

PDF (Vector output)
If you choose PDF (Vector output), Prinergy Evo leaves the vector objects, such as fonts, in the file to be RIPed by the digital print controller. Use this output type for most situations. It has these advantages:

  • The file size is smaller than if you choose PDF Raster.
  • The files can store more color information than if you choose PDF Raster.
  • The files are compatible with the widest range of printers.

PDF raster
If you choose PDF Raster, Prinergy Evo RIPs the entire page into a raster file before sending it to the printer. This takes additional processing time on Prinergy Evo and will result in larger files.
This output type is useful in the following situations:

  • When the input files use operations that may not be supported by a digital print controller, for example, white or color overprints.
  • When you want to ensure that the output was RIPed by Prinergy Evo and will be interpreted exactly the same as the file that you see in Prinergy Evo.
