• When saving DCS files from Photoshop and placing them in a desktop application such as Illustrator software or QuarkXPress software, save the DCS file as either a grayscale composite or a color composite file with a preview.
  • The system merges high-resolution DCS data to composite when it OPIs composite thin Postscript.
  • You must save the file with a preview; otherwise, the desktop application may not add the OPI comments.
  • To create a preview for DCS 1 files, select one of the following:
    • Color Composite
  • Grayscale Composite

DO NOT select No Composite PostScript.

  • To create a preview for DCS 2 files, select one of:
    • Single File with Grayscale Composite
    • Multiple File with Grayscale Composite
    • Single File with Color Composite
    • Multiple File with Color Composite

DO NOT select Single File DCS, No Composite or Multiple File DCS, No Composite as this may cause OPI comments to disappear when placed in QuarkXPress software.
DCS is inherently a separated format, and, as such, in most workflows you can't trap it. The system can recomposite DCS referenced in composite PostScript by using OPI. In order for Prinergy Evo to recomposite the DCS, in the Refine to PDF process template dialog box, Normalize section, select the Do OPI Image Replacement check box and in the Search Path Order box, define the OPI replacement search paths. If you do not enable OPI replacement, Prinergy Evo produces a low-resolution preview if one exists in the DCS control file.
Note: Prinergy Evo's OPI engine currently has the ability to take a maximum of eight separations in Photoshop DCS-2 files and merge them into composite data.
