The following are issues you may need to consider when using ColorFlow with Prinergy. Several of them can be resolved using the Allow unassigned color setup or color setup mismatch feature.

If you share ColorFlow-enabled work between plants or servers

The output might be significantly different. To share, you must change the Job Color Setup to an available color setup and select the Allow unassigned color setup or color setup mismatch check box in the Output Process Template.

If you want to change the tagged color setup of a PDF file that has been refined

You must refine the PDF file again with a new color setup specified in the Process Template.

If you have two objects with the same CMYK input in a single PDF file

The content of objects tagged with an ICC-based CMYK profile is converted via the embedded ICC profile. The content of untagged objects using Device CMYK is converted via a DeviceLink from ColorFlow if a DeviceLink is present in the selected color setup.

To avoid complication, override the embedded profile in the Refine Process Template or Refine to PDF Process Template. This ensures that all content is color managed via the ColorFlow DeviceLink. Or, define Profile Pair conversion for the ColorFlow color input and select the same rendering as selected for Calibrated Colors in the Process Template.

If you refine a file with the Prinergy Bypass Refine feature

You can refine the file again with ColorFlow enabled to tag a color setup in the PDF file.

Or, you can output the file with a selected color setup by selecting the Allow unassigned color setup or color setup mismatch check box in the Output Process Template.

If you want to assign different color setups to different pages

When using ColorFlow, the color setup specified in the Refine Process Templates is assigned to each plate in the refined file. By changing the color setup selection when you refine different files, you can assign different color setups to different pages. When using the Imposition Output Process Template with ColorFlow, you can output an imposition file that has different color setups for each page. When outputting in this situation, ensure that you select a device condition that is contained in all of the color setups assigned to all pages.

If you retrieve an archived job for which ColorFlow is enabled

If you retrieve an archived job for which ColorFlow is enabled, the ColorFlow server will request the name of the color setup and the number of the Snapshot that was used to initially process files within that job. If you have modified any of the elements within the color setup from the initial time of output, these modified elements will be used to output the archived job.

In addition, if the initial color setup was deleted or renamed, the job will fail processing. If you want to change a color setup, duplicate the original one and make changes to the duplicated and newly named color setup. You can use the Allow undefined color setup or color setup mismatch check box to output the archived job when the selected color setup differs from the color setup assigned by the refine process.

To use the Allow undefined color setup or color setup mismatch feature

This check box was added to ColorFlow CRM-enabled output process templates to allow the flexibility to output pages or artwork with a color setup different from the one assigned by Refine (or without any Color setup assigned). Note that when this feature is enabled, output of the page can be significantly different.

To use this feature, it is recommended that you select a specific color setup in the Approved or Current Snapshot. This will ensure that the list of devices and device conditions are filtered to include only those available in the selected color setup. Then, the Allow unassigned color setup or color setup mismatch check box can be selected and output will succeed with a warning message similar to this: You have chosen to overwrite the refined color setup UnCoated_AGFA with a new output color setup Coated_AGFA

The list of devices and device conditions is unfiltered when Job Color Setup is selected. This may cause output to fail because the device and device condition selected are not in the job color setup, even when the Allow undefined color setup or color setup mismatch check box is selected. A message similar to the one show below will be logged in the process history.

You have chosen to output to device condition 175, Condat Digital 115gsm Silk (Coated), HP Indigo 7500, Digital Press - Other, CMYK but this device condition does not exist in one or more of the refined page's tagged Color Setups. In order to fix this, either re-refine your pages with a Color Setup which includes 175, Condat Digital 115gsm Silk (Coated), HP Indigo 7500, Digital Press - Other, CMYK or add this device condition to the color setup(s) UnCoated_AGFA[1035173]

This is expected behavior. Either select a device and device condition used in the job color setup or use the solution recommended in the message.

When Color Setup Assigned by Refine is selected, the list of devices and device conditions is also unfiltered, and the Allow undefined color setup or color setup mismatch check box is grayed out and cannot be used.
