The Proofer Administrator window lets you upgrade, license, and back up the software. It also lets you add proofers and manage resources for the proofers, such as ICC profiles and color bars. You can use Proofer Administrator to:

  • License Kodak Proofing Software
  • Install, upgrade, or restart the software running on the Proofer Controller
  • Add, delete, enable, or disable proofers
  • Define settings for the proofer
  • Back up settings. A service representative can use this information to restore your custom settings after a software upgrade and as part of the recovery process after a controller operating system failure.
  • Manage ICC profiles and device links for each proofer
  • Manage color bars for each proofer
  • Manage report templates. Report templates are used to generate different types of reports.

How does it work?

Proofer Administrator has two parts: the tabs for the Proofer Controller and the tabs for the proofer. Click the Controller icon at the top of the screen to see the tabs for the Proofer Controller. Click a Proofer icon at the top of the screen to see the tabs for the proofer.

If Proofer Administrator is open on another workstation, the system asks if you want to obtain the “lock,” which means that the system will prompt the other workstation to close Proofer Administrator. Only one workstation can have Proofer Administrator open at one time.

Opening Proofer Administrator using the IP address or name

You use Proofer Administrator for controller-level administrative tasks.

Requirements:

  • Either the Microsoft Windows workstation name specified during the initial Microsoft Windows setup or the address
  • Windows administrator account
  1. Open Proofer Finder by double-clicking the ProoferClient desktop shortcut.
  2. In the Controller menu, select Administer by Name.
  3. Complete the Type the Name or IP Address of the Controller
  4. Click OK.
  5. When prompted, type the password prooferAdmin, and click OK.

If someone else has Proofer Administrator open, the system prompts you to send a message requesting to “obtain the lock,” which—if the person at the other workstation agrees—allows you to open Proofer Administrator. If the other workstation does not respond within 15 seconds, Proofer Administrator opens.

Opening Proofer Administrator for a selected proofer and controller

  1. In Proofer Finder, in the Proofer list, select a proofer.
  2. From the Controller menu, select Administer. (Or press the Ctrl key and double-click a proofer to display the password dialog box.)
  3. When prompted, type the password prooferAdmin and click OK.
