  1. Zoom in to an area that includes the bottom of the big yellow $ and some of the reverse type.
  2. Open the Acrobat output preview tool (View > Tools > Print Production > Output Preview).
  3. Turn off all colors except black and Spot yellow.
  4. Confirm that spot yellow traps to black by moving the black slider (triangle under the color swatch in Separations dialog box) to the far left side of the window. You should be able to see the overlap between the colors clearly.
  5. Turn off spot yellow and turn on cyan (a "booster" color in this case). By moving the black slider most of the way to the left, you can see there is a zone around the white type that has no cyan in it (this is called "pull back", and is designed to prevent cyan from showing up in the white type if there is misregistration).
  6. Turn off black and turn on spot yellow. You can move the sliders on either the cyan or the spot yellow, but you will not see any overlap between the colors (this is not necessary because black is doing all the work of trapping in these areas).
  7. Close the trapped PDF file and save changes.
