Background
If the response of a plate has changed, you can edit an imported Harmony plate curve in ColorFlow to linearize it again.

In the Measured Plate Response box, update Dot Area values for each Tint In. In a real-life situation, you would output an uncalibrated plate containing a plate calibration target in Prinergy and measure the plate response for each tint value. For the purpose of this training, enter 55 to reflect the plate is gaining 5% at the 50% tone.
- Click Apply.
- Click Plate Response to display a graph of the measured values.
- Click Plate Curve to display a graph of the calibration values that will be applied in Prinergy.
Task 2: Use your updated plate calibration curve to refine and output a page in Prinergy
- In Prinergy, create a new job, and name it
XX Harmony Activity 2 Update
(where XX = your initials). - Refine Chart_TintRamp_CMYK.pdf with 1stRef-Normz.
- Output the PDF file using Virtual Proof.LoosePage with one of the plate curves you just imported:
- In your Virtual Proof.LoosePage Process template dialog box, from the Output To list, select Virtual Proof.
- Leave ColorFlow Color Relationship Management unchecked.
- Expand the Calibration & Screening panel.
- Select the ColorFlow Current State radio button.
- Expand the Plate Curve drop down list and select the Kodak Thermal Gold 20u curve
- Output the file, open the output file in VPS and measure the 50% black patch.
Confirm that the updated plate calibration curve has been applied and the 50% black patch measures 45%.
Outcome
You have updated an imported Harmony plate curve and used the updated curve in Prinergy to control the tonal response of a plate.
