To automate Prinergy, you need to give it instructions. In RBA, instructions are called rules. You can use RBA to create rules to automate processes and workflows in your Prinergy system. Rules follow a specific format: When a specific Event occurs, do a specific Action. Rules appear visually as an Event icon and an Action icon linked together with a line. For example, when a job is completed (event), archive the job (action).
Events definition
Events trigger actions. Every rule begins with an event. Every event has properties that describe it, such as the time and date that the event (say, archive) occurred. Different events have different properties that best describe the event's details.
Actions definition
Actions are responses from Prinergy to specific events. An action has parameters that define the processing, such as the name of the specific process template to use to perform the action (say, refine an input file to a PDF file). Almost all actions will cause resulting events to occur. By adding further actions that respond to resulting events, you can create complex rule sets to manage your printing workflow.
