Use text and shape annotations in Smart Review to add comments and specify required changes to a file.

You can use the following types of annotations:

  • Text annotations
  • Straight and free-form lines
  • Squares/rectangles
  • Circles/ovals
  • Horizontal and vertical guides
  • Multiple shapes

To add annotations to a file, the following conditions must be met:

  • The file must be stored in a project. When you view a file that is stored in a library, the annotation tools are unavailable in Smart Review.
  • You must have a project role that includes the View Tasks user right.
  • You must select a task that is associated with the file and assigned to you in the task list in Smart Review. You cannot add annotations to the file when no task is assigned, although you can take measurements and unposted color density readings.
  • The selected task's status is not set.
  • You cannot add annotations in 3D Preview. For IC3 files, you can add annotations to the 2D elements of the IC3 element.

Note: When you annotate a file that has multiple revisions, the annotations apply to the current revision only. If you display a different revision in Smart Review, annotations that you added to other revisions do not appear.
