When prompted by the media configuration wizard, print the white level chart and determine how much white ink the proofer should use to simulate the white flood used in printing.

White flood refers to a coat of white ink applied as a base for colors. For example, on clear or silver media, adding a white flood before printing the other colors expands their gamut.

  1. Place the chart on black backing, and wait 15 or 20 minutes for the chart to dry.
  2. When dry, compare each patch in the chart to the white flood on the printed target.
You can cut patches from the chart, if desired.
  3. Identify the patch on the chart that best simulates the white flood on the target.
The chart includes a range of sample patches, but you can identify any tint number from 1 to 100. You may want to use the same tint percentage that you use in input files to identify the white flood.
  4. Type the desired number into the wizard, and click Next.
When jobs are processed using this media configuration, the software applies the identified white level to all proofs that require a white flood.
