What you need to know
Create and use a customized refine process template
Refining is a key Prinergy process. In addition to converting your files to PDF, refining can perform copydot handling, color converting, trapping, thumbnail generation, and more, depending on your licensed options.
Refined files also include embedded fonts and images, eliminating the need to manage fonts and images separately.
The refine process template contains several sections. Each section defines a subprocess of the refine process. These section include:
CEPS Conversion
Determines how Prinergy handles Brisque CT/LW or TIFF/IT-P1 input files.
Fonts and Images
Determines how Prinergy handles images and fonts for PostScript, EPS, and PDF input files.
Normalize
Converts PostScript files into PDF files.
PDF Preflight
Determines how Prinergy uses PDF Preflight to check for problems that may affect processing in the Prinergy workflow.
Copydot
Determines how Prinergy handles copydot input files. When you enable the Copydot section, the system automatically reformats copydot images for optimal performance during output. Only disable the Copydot section for one or more of the following reasons:
- Your input files lack copydot images.
- You have already optimized the copydot images in your input files.
- You don't need alternate images.
Spot Color Handling
Determines how Prinergy handles spot colors and searches for color recipes.
ColorConvert
Determines how Prinergy handles overprint conversion, and color matching; and provides information necessary to transform color data from the input color space to the output color space.
Trap
Determines how Prinergy handles trapping in input files.
Optimize
Determines how Prinergy optimizes images in input files. This section also defines low resolution values when using the Publish to PDF option.
Thumbnail
Determines whether or not Prinergy generates thumbnails for input files.
Impose
Determines how Prinergy handles imposition automation.
Required and Optional Sections
The refine process template requires the Fonts and Images, Normalize, Spot Color Handling, and Optimize sections. As a result, they are always enabled in a refine process template; you can't disable them. The other sections in the refine process template are optional; you are not required to use them.
