Each spot tint library is associated with a spot color library from the Color Database Editor. Together the two libraries allow the proofer to better simulate how spot colors print on press.


  1. In Proofer Viewer, from the Configure menu, select Spot Tint Color Libraries.
  2. Click New.
  3. Perform one of the following actions:

    Associate the spot tint library with a user library

    Select User Library, and select a user library from the list.

    Associate the spot tint library with a factory library

    Select Factory Library, and select a factory library from the list.


    These lists display existing color libraries from the Color Database Editor. Use the Color Database Editor to create or edit color libraries.

  4. Perform one of the following actions:
    • If you have L*a*b* measurements of the substrate on which you will print the spot tint colors on press, type the measurements in the Press substrate white point box.
    • If you do not have L*a*b* measurements of the substrate on which you will print the spot tint colors on press, use the default values.
  5. Perform one of the following actions:
    • If you selected a CMYK color library, in the Proofer Profile list, select the profile for the proofer media on which you will print the spot tints.
    • If you did not select a CMYK color library, skip this step.
  6. In the Simulation list, specify the type of tint range that you want to simulate, and set the options available for your choice.
  7. (Optional) Click Customize to customize individual colors in the library.
  8. Click Save.
