The server software is called Prinergy Server. It coordinates requests from Workshop and maintains the Oracle database, which stores job information. It also locates and manages any workflow processors that are connected to it.
Note: For more information about Prinergy Server, see the Prinergy System Administration Guide.
The server includes Prinergy Administrator, the database (that stores data about jobs in the system), and some JTPs (archive, import, purge, and retrieve). There is only one Prinergy server in a Prinergy Workflow system.

A Prinergy Workflow system can have these types of servers:

  • One primary server—the main server in a Prinergy Workflow system. It contains all Prinergy Server components, including the job file information database. There is only one primary server in the system.
  • Secondary server—a server that is running Prinergy Server software, but it does not store the database.
  • Render station—secondary server that is connected to an output device and reserved for rendering files for output.
  • Tertiary server—a server that is part of the Prinergy Workflow network but is not running any Prinergy Server software components. It can be used to store jobs and input files.
  • File server—a server that stores input files, but does not run any Prinergy Workflow software components or store any Prinergy Workflow job folders. It can be any computer that is visible to the Prinergy Workflow system.
