In this discussion, we will highlight all the features of the Print Condition: Ink Properties tab.
Ink Properties
In the Ink Properties tab, you define the unique print order (Station ID), Mileage Factor, Tolerance and MTV for each ink.
Select (+) to add or (-) to remove an Ink or Coating to the list. This list is based on the Ink(s) entries previously defined in the Configuration tab.
Please define the following fields:
Field Name | Description |
Ink & ID | These fields are based on the previous selection(s), either in the Configuration tab, or by clicking "+". |
---|---|
Station ID | Define the Press Ink Station number. Typically, this should start at one (1) and go to the highest total number of Press Ink Stations on the Press or used in this Print Condition. The Ink ID is an internal reference number you give to an ink for tracking purposes. |
Mileage Factor | The total amount of substrate that will be covered by a specific unit/weight of ink. See Determining Ink Mileage Factors for more details. |
Tolerance | For general printing operations - The preferred amount of Ink or Coating left in the Press Ink Tray at the end of an average press run. Feature is not yet available. |
Minimum Tray Value (MTV) | The minimum amount of Ink or Coating required to "come up to color" and print a job. Enter an amount needed to fill the Press Ink Tray at a level appropriate to operate the Press efficiently, regardless of the actual ink coverage of the job. NOTE: If there is very light coverage of an ink, the Ink Usage calculation could specify an amount less than the MTV. Ink Analytics will increase the amount required to the MTV amount. If this occurs, the MTV values will be indicated by a Yellow ( ) star in a report. |
