You can use the Trapping Threshold slide bar to adjust the number of traps that may occur on a page. The slide bar changes the common density limit and step limit parameters.
However, you can still manually set the values for step limit and common density limit. In this case, the Trapping Threshold check box will be unavailable.

  1. From within PDF Trap Editor, select the simplified view of the Trap Page or Trap Selection dialog box.
  2. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Check the box for Use trapper threshold setting 5 for the median value.
    • Click the triangular arrow, and slide along the threshold scale to select a point near Low or High. The corresponding numerical range is 1 to 10.

      Trapping threshold

      Result

      5 (default)

If the trapping threshold is 5, the Common Density Limit is set to 0.5, and the relative step limit to 25 percent.

      Lower value

The Common Density Limit is lower and the Relative Step Limit is higher. More traps generated than with the default setting.

      Higher value

The Common Density Limit is higher and the Relative Step Limit is lower. Fewer traps generated than with the default setting.
