Proofer Finder cannot find the required proofer on the network. Before starting this troubleshooting procedure, be sure to wait at least one minute for Proofer Finder to update the proofer list.
Cause:
The network is down, or the Proofer Controller unit is turned off, not properly connected, or on a different subnet than the workstation.
Solution:
Work through these tests in the following order:
Test | Test Result | Action |
---|---|---|
Test 1: Start Proofer Viewer by IP address. | Connection to the proofer succeeded. | The client workstation may be on a different subnet than the Proofer Controller. Contact your site administrator. You can view and change the proofer IP settings by starting Proofer Administrator by IP address. |
Connection to the proofer failed. | The Proofer Controller or client workstation may not be connected to the network, the network may be down, or the Proofer Controller unit may be off. Go to Test 2. | |
Test 2: Open Proofer Finder on a different client. | If Proofer Finder displays the required proofer, the Proofer Controller is operating and connected to the network. | Go to Test 3. |
If Proofer Finder does not display the required proofer, the Proofer Controller may not be operating or connected to the network. | Go to Test 4. | |
Test 3: Check workstation cables and connection to network. | Cables are connected and network is operating. | There may be a problem with the client workstation. Contact your site administrator. |
Cables are not connected. | Connect cables. | |
This part of the network is down. | Contact your site administrator. | |
Test 4: Check cables between the Proofer Controller and the network. Make sure the Proofer Controller has power. | Cables are not connected. | Connect cables. |
The Proofer Controller is not on. | Turn the Proofer Controller on. Wait for the Tada sound to play on the Controller. After you hear this sound, the Proofer Controller should appear in the Proofer display area. | |
The Proofer Controller is on and the cables are connected. | Go to Test 5. | |
Test 5: Restart the Proofer Controller. | The connection to the proofer succeeded. | Start proofing. |
The connection to the proofer failed. | Contact a service representative. |
