Using the Output Preview tool from the Print Production toolbar in Acrobat, you can view any CMYK and spot colors present in the opened PDF file. You can also hide colors to better view the separations in your page, if needed.
You can also set the Output Preview tool to display any overprints in the PDF file, which is helpful when checking the look and properties of objects.
Note: You cannot open both the DotShop Properties Editor and the Output Preview dialog box at the same time.

  1. Display the Print Production toolbar in Acrobat (View > Toolbars > Print Production).
  2. Click the Output Preview button in the Print Production toolbar.
  3. In the Output Preview dialog box, choose Separations from the Preview list.
The Output Preview dialog box shows the colors present in the file (CMYK and spot colors).
  4. To hide a color separation from the output preview view of the page, clear the check box for that color. Select the check box again to restore the color separation.
Note: Removing color separations only affects the output preview; it does not change the color that is output.
  5. To display overprints, choose Color Warnings from the Preview list and select the Show Overprinting check box.

For more information about the Output Preview tool, see the Adobe Acrobat help.
