Adjusting the position of the seam
After you create the seam manually, semi-manually, or automatically, you may want to adjust some of the segments of the seam, especially if they are displayed in red. If a segment of the seam appears red:
- The segment or gap overlaps the data
- The segment is too small (Preferences > Plate on Sleeve Planning > Minimum segment length)
To find out why a segment is red, place the mouse over it and read the tooltip that appears.
To adjust the seam, click the Select tool and perform any of the following actions:
- Drag a segment.
- Drag a corner of two segments.
- Use the snap-to-horizontal-segments feature to align the horizontal segments of the line. When you drag a segment and move it inside a defined snap-to area, it snaps to horizontal alignment with the previous horizontal segment.
Using this feature is the preferred action because a horizontally-aligned seam is cut more easily by the cutting machine. Right-click the segment and select one or more of the following options:
Split Segment: Select this option to split the segment into two segments at the location of the pointer.
Merge Segment: Select this option to merge the segment with the preceding segment.
Center Segment: Select this option to center the location of the segment between the data above and below it.
Center All: Select this option to center the location of all segments between the data above and below them.
Right-click a corner to create an arc segment.
Note: An arc segment is useful for diagonal data. Use arc segments instead of zigzag segments.
Deleting the seam
To delete the seam, in the display window, right-click any segment of the seam and select Clear Seam.
