Tags can be used to control the Dot Enlargement imaging feature in files submitted from prepress software. The instructions are embedded as tags in individual TIFF files, but the actual tag settings are applied (in other words, executed) only when the layout is created and output from a Windows workstation for imaging. See also Dot Enlargement layout presets.
Allow editing of tags in Preview mode
Select to make options available for adding or editing tags in the Preview Separation panel.
Enable save to predefined folder
Select to enable saving files with added or edited tags to a location that is separate from the original files, and then specify the desired predefined Folder location.
- If this check box is cleared, the files are saved to the original location.
- If this check box is selected, the Include tag in file name check box becomes available—select to include an alphanumeric descriptor of the tags in the file name.
- If Include tag in file name is selected, also specify the Delimiter character for separating the tag descriptor from the rest of the original file name.
Include tag in file name
The following abbreviations are used in the tag descriptor:
Setting | Abbreviation |
---|---|
No | 00 |
1x2 | 12 |
2x2 | 22 |
2x3 | 23 |
3x3 | 33 |
3x4 | 34 |
4x4 | 44 |
The tag descriptor is inserted before the last instance of the delimiter in the original file name, and another instance of the delimiter is inserted before the tag descriptor.
Example:
- Select the Include tag in file name check box.
- For the delimiter, type an underscore.
- In the layout, select a separation with the original file name
job4_pg2_c.tif
. - Add a Dot enlargement 3x3 tag to the separation.
- Select File > Save to predefined folder (or press Ctrl+Shift+P).
The name of the file added to the predefined folder is
job4_pg2_33_c.tif
.
