You need to impose PDF pages to an imposition plan. An imposition plan has already been created but needs to be imported into the Prinergy workflow. After importing the imposition plan, you need to manually assign refined PDF pages to the imported page set.

Create a job

  1. If it is not already open, start Prinergy Workshop.
  2. In Job Finder, right-click your main group, and choose New Job.
  3. Type the job name XX_Page_Set_Basic (where <XX> represents your initials).
  4. Click Create.
  5. Minimize the Job Manager window.

Copy an input file and imposition plan to the job folder

  1. From your workstation, locate: Prinergy Activity Practice Files / Act_13_Assign Pages Basic / Input File
  2. Copy the Input File and Imposition folders.
  3. Restore Job Manager.
  4. Right-click the XX_Page_Set_Basic job folder icon in the lower left corner of Job Manager. Select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  5. In the XX_Page_Set_Basic folder, open UserDefinedFolders.
  6. Paste the Input File and Imposition folders into UserDefinedFolders.
  7. Close the job folder.

Add and refine the input file

  1. Right-click the Job Folder button in the lower left corner of Job manager and select Open Job Folder in File Browser.
  2. Locate and select the input file UserDefinedFolders / Input Files / Type Brochure.pdf.
  3. Drag the input file to the into the Refine > Refine > 1stRef-Normz process template in the Process Templates pane in Job Manager.
    Note: This is a quick alternative to selecting Add Input Files from the File menu and then selecting the process template in the Add Input Files dialog box.
  4. In the Add Input Files dialog box, click OK.
  5. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.

Import an imposition plan

  1. From the File menu, choose Import Imposition.
  2. In the Import Imposition dialog box, click the Job Folder button and locate: UserDefinedFolders / Imposition / Type Brochure.jdf.
  3. Click Import.
  4. In the Start Process dialog box, click OK.
  5. Select the Pages pane From the View menu, choose as List.
  6. Select the Page Set pane. From the View menu, choose as List.

Manually assign PDF pages to a page set

For this task, organize Job Manager so that you can see the Pages and Page Sets panes. Minimize the Input Files pane if required.

Method 1: Assign one page at a time

  1. In the Pages pane, select the PDF page Type Brochure.p1.pdf.
  2. Drag the PDF page to the Page Sets pane, and release it on the page set position p1. The PDF page is now part of the page set.
  3. Right-click the assigned Type Brochure.p1.pdf page, and select Unassign. This removes the PDF page from the page set.

Method 2: Assign all pages at one time

  1. In the Pages pane, right-click Type Brochure.p1.pdf and choose Select All Pages.
    or, while holding the Command + Y (Mac) or Ctrl +Y (Windows-based) keys on your keyboard, select each PDF page in the correct order.
    Note: If holding the Command + Y (Mac) or Ctrl +Y (Windows-based) keys while you select the PDF pages (in the correct order), Prinergy will remember the correct order of the pages the next time you select them.
  2. Drag the PDF pages to the Page Sets pane, and release the Type Brochure.p1.pdf page on the page set position p1. You will now see all PDF pages positioned as part of the page set.
  3. Select all assigned pages, then right-click any page and select Unassign. This removes all PDF pages from the page set.

Method 3: Assign pages to different page set positions

  1. In the Pages pane, select the PDF page Type Brochure.p1.pdf.
  2. Drag the PDF pages to the Page Sets pane, and release the page on the page set position p4. You can manually position any PDF page to any page set position.
  3. Drag each PDF page independently or grouped to any page set position. This method allows you to customize the arrangement of pages if desired.
  4. Select all assigned pages, then right-click any page and select Unassign. This removes all PDF pages from the page set.

Method 4: Assign pages directly to an imposition plan

  1. Select the Signatures view.
  2. Select the Imposition Plans pane. From the View menu, choose as Thumbnails. View the imposition layout.
  3. In the Pages pane, right-click Type Brochure.p1.pdf and choose Select All Pages.
  4. Drag the PDF pages to the Imposition Plans pane, and release the Type Brochure.p1.pdf page on the imposition layout position 1.
    You will now see all PDF pages positioned as part of the imposition.
  5. Close XX_Page_Set_Basic Job Manager.
