Font type indicates the content and structure of information used to describe a font. Font format indicates the file format used to store a font type.
When the font converters convert PostScript font types, the font type remains the same, but the font format usually changes. When the font converters convert TrueType fonts, the font type changes to PostScript Type 42 and the font format changes to PFA.
