The aim of this activity is to provide customers with interactive experience using the Geometry Editor in Prinergy. As the Geometry Editor is included with every base Prinergy system, this activity is rated as recommended.
The emphasis of this activity is placed on defining offset coordinates using the Kodak Geometry Editor plug-in, and then setting the offset value in Prinergy Workshop.
This activity uses a "before and after approach" to clearly illustrate the differences in offset values. If the customer has files available for use, use this activity for demonstration purposes, and then have the customer repeat the process using their own files.
If you skipped Activity 1, consult the Activity 1 Instructor's Notes for information about best practices for managing activity practice files during a training session. Activity 1 also contains important information related to the Prinergy client and server relationship, which could be helpful to the customer.
Set offsets using the Geometry Editor
Prinergy includes the Geometry Editor (a Kodak plug-in for Adobe Acrobat) that lets you visually set the trim size for a page.
If your input files are PDF, you can set the trim size before you add the PDF files to a job. When you refine the PDF input files, the system retains the trim size. For refined files, use the plug-in as a trim box viewer and editor.
To quickly apply a trim size to multiple files, visually set the trim size in the Geometry Editor, and make note of the measurements. In Prinergy Workshop, use the Set Page Geometry option to set the trim size for all PDF pages.
If you modify the geometry for refined PDF pages, you must refine the PDF page again so that Prinergy recognizes the changes. When you refine a PDF page, select a refine process template in which only the Normalize section is enabled.
