You can archive job data to any SMB- or CIFS-accessible disk volume on the network that has sufficient read/write privileges.

Archiving job data to a disk volume is generally faster than archiving to tape, depending on the network speed. Archiving to disk stores all the job files in one place.

Important: Make sure that you archive to two disk volumes and back up each archive disk volume regularly.

Note: In Workshop, Use Workshop > Media Manager to monitor the used and free space of the disk volumes you're using. A disk volume with less than 15% free space might have degraded system performance. Consider expanding the disk volume or adding a new disk volume.

Ensure that each disk volume share uses Server Message Block (SMB) protocol (Common Interchange Format), with the permissions set to Change.

After you set up an archive disk volume in Administrator, the disk volume is available in Workshop in the same way as an archive tape:

Note: When you re-archive a job to a disk volume, it creates another save-set for the entire job. It does not append to the original save-sets.
For more information about using archive disk volumes in Workshop, see the Prinergy Workshop User Guide.
