The marks are organized in a set of folders on the Marks palette of the Pandora software. You can preview the marks, add your own custom marks to the user folder, organize your marks using the subfolders, and apply marks to jobs.
When you use Pandora integrated with Prinergy, you can take advantage of Prinergy variable marks located in the Pandora application folder. You can place Prinergy variable marks anywhere on a substrate, and when you export the layout, Prinergy will replace the placeholder text string with variable text from the Prinergy job.
Some of the provided marks are SmartMarks, with intelligent functionality. You can edit a variety of settings for SmartMarks including setting a trim increment for colorbars and convert marks to and from being SmartMarks.
SmartMarks position and/or step and repeat themselves according to the materials used in the job—for example, the film, plate, substrate (press sheet), or die. These marks contain information that the Pandora software uses to define their appearance. After you place a SmartMark in the layout, you can edit it or move it like other marks.
If you use Packaging Layout Automation, make sure that all the marks your site plans to use are SmartMarks. Otherwise, convert the simple mark of your choice to a SmartMark before adding it to the layout ticket.
