When open connectivity is used, you can create as many hot folders as needed, and expose them on as many client workstations as needed.
Requirements: Ensure that the desired resources have been prepared, including layout and media configuration.
Notes:
- Some older operating systems cannot communicate with hot folders.
- Although the option of creating a virtual printer instead of a hot folder remains available and uses the same general procedure, a 64-bit operating system environment such as a Microsoft Windows 7 or 8.1 does not support virtual printers.
- Open Proofer Viewer for the applicable proofer.
- In Proofer Viewer, select Configure> Hot Folders / Virtual Printers.
- Click Newto display the Setup File Input dialog box.
- In the Namebox, type a unique name.
- Select the desired File Input Type—either Hot Folderor (for virtual printer) IP Printing (LPR).
- Set the Media Configuration, Layout, Halftone Handling, and Color Handlingas needed.
- (For hot folder) Record or copy the displayedFile Input Location—you will need this path when exposing the hot folder.
- Double-check your selections, and click Next.
Note: Only the Layout can later be changed. The other presets are not editable. The Setup File Input settings determine what options are available in the next dialog box.
