Note: Although this topic describes one way of setting up a hot folder, several other processing options are available for different requirements.

For example, you can also set an option that allows you to selectively edit a separation on a per-proof basis, such as to convert a spot color to process, based on a recipe in a selected color library.

  1. In Proofer Viewer, select Configure > Hot Folders.
Note: Support for virtual printers is not available on the Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows Vista, and Windows 7 or later operating systems.
  2. In the Hot Folders dialog box, click New, and select the Hot Folder input type.
  3. In the Setup File Input dialog box, set the following options:
    1. Select the Media Configuration and Layout options as needed.
    2. In the Halftone Handling list, select None.
    3. In the Color Handling list, select CMYK With Spots Press is Final Output.
    4. Click Next to display the Process Settings dialog box.
  4. On the Spot Colors tab, specify how spot colors are to be handled:
    • If you want one type of handling to be automatically applied to all spot colors processed by this hot folder, choose an option in the Handling list.
    • If you want to handle individual spot colors differently by mapping them to specific color libraries on a per-proof basis, select the Selective Map to Process check box. When you select this check box, the software ignores the current Handling selection.
  5. Select the default factory color library and/or user color library that this hot folder should use for printing the CMYK and spot colors.
Note: The Selective Map to Process feature allows you to override these default library selections on a per-proof basis.
  6. On the ICC Settings tab, select Use ICC Profile Color Management, and set the color-space options as needed.
