Requirements: In Kodak Proofing Software, prepare the resources as needed—for example, color recipes, media configurations, layouts, and ICC or DeviceLink profiles. For instructions, see the applicable help topics.

Enabled resources are automatically available for selection when you configure the processing settings for direct connectivity or hot folders.

1. Determine the connectivity type that will be used to submit files to the proofer:

Connectivity type

Description

Direct connectivity (available with all licenses)

Uses workflow software such as Kodak Prinergy to receive, process, and submit files directly to the proofer. A software component (NPROOF) on the workflow server exchanges data with the Kodak Proofing Software controller

Open connectivity hot folders (requires a license option)

Uses Kodak Proofing Software hot folders to receive, process, and submit input files to the proofer. Multiple PDF and other file types are supported.

One-bit TIFF hot folders (available with all licenses)

Uses Kodak Proofing Software 1-bit TIFF hot folders to receive, process, and submit the files to the proofer. Multiple TIFF file formats and compression types are supported, including one- bit TIFF, LEN, and VPS files.

2. In the applicable software, set up the input mechanisms for receiving and processing files.

Connectivity type

Description

Direct

In the workflow software, create output process templates as needed to process jobs and submit the files to the proofer. For example, configure a Prinergy loose-page process template to apply a specific media configuration, layout, and profile.

Open connectivity or one-bit TIFF hot folders

In Kodak Proofing Software, create and enable hot folders to apply the desired media configuration, layout, and profiles to a job before submitting the files to the proofer.
