In your trapping workflow, you may want to edit objects in a PDF page using Enfocus PitStop software. Here are some recommended ways of dealing with the effects of adding color separations, and moving or deleting objects in a trapped PDF page.

When You...

Do This:

Delete traps before editing with PitStop

The recommended practice is to delete all traps with PDF Trap Editor before editing the page with PitStop or any other editing tool.

Close PDF Trap Editor

Close PDF Trap Editor before opening and using the PitStop software.

After adding color separations

If you add or change color separations while editing objects with PitStop, you must refine the PDF page again in Prinergy with color matching and trapping steps included.

After moving an object

If you move an object using PitStop in a page that still includes traps, the object's traps may no longer be associated with the object. These ghost traps must be cleared from the page.

You can perform one of the following steps:

  • Manually select and delete the object's traps using PitStop.
  • Open the page in PDF Trap Editor and delete all traps. You can then retrap the page. (Recommended method).

When only a few items are changed

Open the page in PDF Trap Editor, select the object, and retrap the selection with the Common object boundaries check box cleared.

After deleting an object

If you delete an object using PitStop in a page that includes traps, the object's traps are automatically deleted the next time you open and select an item or retrap the file with PDF Trap Editor.
