Note: You can turn off IPP protocol support for the DocuSP print controller. If you have problems setting up an IPP connection to the DocuSP controller, try using the XPIFLPR protocol instead. To enable the IPP protocol on your DocuSP, contact Xerox technical support.

If you are having difficulty printing using the Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager software, perform the following tests to find out if you can submit files to the printer and whether or not the Prinergy Digital Print hot folder is functioning correctly.

Testing Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager

Print directly from the Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager software to isolate the problem.

  1. Log on to the Prinergy primary server.
  2. Run the Xerox Printer Registration utility to set up the print queue.
From the Start menu, select Programs > Xerox Applications > Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager Tool Suite <version> > Free Flow Print Manager > Printer Registration.
  3. Run the Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager software on the Prinergy primary server to test the printer connectivity.
From the Start menu, select Programs > Xerox Applications > Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager Tool Suite <version> > Free Flow Print Manager > Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager.
  4. Select a PDF file and an appropriate printer and queue that you want to use, and print a test job.
  5. If the job fails to print, troubleshoot the problem.
For example, ensure that the details that you used to set up the queue in the Printer Registration utility and the Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager software match the settings that you are using in your process template.

Testing the Prinergy Digital Print hot folder

  1. Log on to the Prinergy primary server.
  2. Determine if the hot folder is running:
    • In Windows Explorer, locate the hot folder—for example, locate the J:\PDP_Hotfolder folder for Prinergy. Open the hot folder, and open the JDF_Input folder. If the JDF_Input folder contains JDF files, the hot folder is probably not running.
    • Drag a JDF file from the JDF_Input folder to another folder, and then drag it back to the JDF_Input folder to see if the hot folder processes it.
  3. If the hot folder is running, determine if the hot folder or the Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager software is rejecting the files being dropped. Locate the Logs folder, open the PDP_Logfile.txt file, and review the messages for any indications that jobs were rejected.
Note: The log file indicates where the file is rejected. Refer to the corresponding troubleshooting answer on the Kodak services and support portal or on the Xerox support site.
