The client software installer is located in a share folder on the proofer controller workstation. You can access and run the installer from any client workstation in the same network.
- In the Finder menu at the client computer, choose Go > Connect to Server.
- In the Server Address box, type
smb://<ControllerName>
(orsmb://<IP_address>
), and click Connect.
The controller name must be exactly as listed in Proofer Finder. In some cases, you may need to include the domain nameproofers
.
Note: The User Name and Password are bothproofer
. - Locate and double-click the
ProofClient
directory. - In the
Mac
folder, double-click thesetup
file. - Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
Note: The installer may ask if you want to install the Mac OS X Keyspan Serial USB Adapter drivers. Select the check box if using a spectrophotometer with a serial cable, which requires a Keyspan adapter for connecting to a USB port on the computer. - Ensure that Adobe Reader 8.x or later is installed on the workstation and is the default PDF viewer.
To prevent network disconnection, set the client computer’s System Preferences Energy Saver to Never Sleep.
Enabling Keyspan adaptor drivers if a spectrophotometer uses a serial port
While installing the client software, if you opted to also install the Keyspan adapter drivers, you must configure a serial port for each adapter model that you will use.
Keyspan adaptor drivers are needed only if you plan to run a spectrophotometer through a serial cable that you need to connect to a USB port on a Mac OS client workstation. Keyspan adaptor drivers are not needed if your spectrophotometer has a USB cable or if you use an inline spectrophotometer.
- In System Preferences, click Network.
- In the Show list, select Network Port Configurations.
- Select the port or ports that correspond to the adapter models that you will use, such as USA19HS.
Note: Ensure that the adapter you use is compatible with the operating system version. For example, the USA 28X model does not work with Intel-based Mac OS X (10.7 or later) computers. - To save your changes, click Apply Now.
