The client software installer is located in a share folder on the proofer controller workstation. You can access and run the installer from any client workstation in the same network.

  1. At the client workstation, use your preferred method to go to \\ControllerName (or \\IP_address).
    The controller name must be exactly as listed in Proofer Finder. In some cases, you may need to include the domain name proofers.
    Note: The User Name and Password are both proofer.
  2. Locate and double-click the ProofClient directory.
  3. In the Windows folder, double-click the setup.exe file.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  5. Ensure that Adobe Reader 8.x or later is installed on the workstation and is the default PDF viewer.
    Note: If a Program Compatibility Assistant message appears, click This program installed correctly to clear the error and keep it from appearing again.

Configuring a Windows client firewall to allow Color Database Editor access

This task applies only to client workstations running an Open Connectivity Kit license on Windows 7 or later.

Requirements:
Windows administrator privileges on the client workstation

Repeat this procedure whenever you install or upgrade the Proofer Client software on a Windows client workstation.

Notes:

  • When you first start Proofer Client, a message may ask whether to allow javaaw.exe to access the network. Click Allow.
  • You may also see the Program Compatibility Assistant dialog box. Click This program installed correctly to clear the error and keep it from appearing again.
  1. Use your preferred method to access the Windows Firewall > Advanced Settings.
  2. Select Inbound Rules > New Rule.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set the following options for this rule:
    • If prompted, confirm your actions. You may need to provide your administrator password.
    • To add the Program to the rule, browse to and select Program Files\Kodak\Proofer Client <version>\OpenConnectivityClient.exe.
    • Select Allow the connection.
    • Select the DomainPrivate, and Public network types.
    • For the Name, type KPS Open Connectivity Kit.

The Color Database Editor will now be accessible.

Note: Also ensure that the antivirus software is configured with the same exception.
