Why you should complete this activity

This activity demonstrates how to create and use an imposition proof process template.
This activity is important because it illustrates how to:

  • Create and use an imposition proof process template—Scenario 1
  • Convert spot colors to process color for proofing purposes—Scenario 2
  • Map and resolve colors in imposed PDF pages—Scenario 3

What you'll need

For this activity you need to locate:

Prinergy Activity Practice Files / Act_18_Create Impo PT

The instructor or coach will provide you with the location of the practice files.
Note: This activity is recommended.
The aim of this activity is to:

  • Demonstrate how to use the Process Template Editor to create customized imposition proof process templates
  • Describe the various selections available as part of the imposition proof process template.

As the practice of creating process templates is used commonly throughout print shops, this activity is rated as recommended.
Consult the online help for Prinergy Connect to familiarize yourself with the various available settings in an imposition proof process template. Encourage the customer to consult this reference material as well, as it will provide additional support to them after the training session is over and they are working on their own.
If you skipped Activity 1, consult the Activity 1 Instructor's Notes for information about best practices for managing activity practice files during a training session. Activity 1 also contains important information related to the Prinergy client and server relationship, which could be helpful to the customer.

What you need to know

Create and use an imposition proof process template

The imposition proof process template contains several sections. Each section defines a subprocess of the proofing process.
At the top of the imposition proof process template dialog box is the Output To list. Use this list to select the file format suitable for the output device you select in the Device section. The file format selection determines the availability of some options in this process template. For this reason, you should select an output format before you set the other options in the process template.
This process template contains the following sections:

Copydot
Determines how to handle copydot files. When you enable the Copydot section, the system automatically converts copydot images for optimal quality on your output device during output. Only disable the Copydot section for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Your pages lack copydot images.
  • You are outputting at your target device resolution.
  • You don't need high-quality copydot images in your imposition proofs.

ColorConvert
Provides information necessary to transform color data from a PDF file to the appropriate final output color space. The final output color space is then transformed to the assigned page output device color space. As a result, the imposition output simulates the intended final output.

Layout
Determines how Prinergy places the pages on the output media.

Render
Determines the output resolution and how Prinergy handles spot colors.

Calibration & screening
Provides calibration and screening file information.

Processed file options
Identifies the file naming parameters.

File format
Identifies the format and compression settings of the output files.

Device
Identifies the output device.

Include JDF for digital print
Enable this section if you are generating to a digital printer.

Marks
Determines how marks are handled.

Zweck dieser Übung

Hinweis: Diese Übung wird empfohlen.
Ziel dieser Übung ist Folgendes:

  • Veranschaulicht die Verwendung des Prozessvorlagen-Editors, um benutzerdefinierte Form-Proof-Prozessvorlagen zu erstellen.
  • Beschreiben der verschiedenen Auswahlen, die als Teil der Form-Proof-Prozessvorlage verfügbar sind.

Da die Erstellung von Prozessvorlagen in den Druckereien zur üblichen Praxis gehört, wird diese Übung empfohlen.
Lesen Sie in der Online-Hilfe von Prinergy Connect nach, um sich mit den verschiedenen verfügbaren Einstellungen in einer Form-Proof-Prozessvorlage vertraut zu machen. Ermuntern Sie auch die Kunden, dieses Referenzmaterial zu nutzen, da es ihnen nach der Schulung zusätzliche Unterstützung bei der eigenständigen Arbeit bietet.
Wenn Sie Übung 1 übersprungen haben, lesen Sie die Anmerkungen für den Kursleiter zu Übung 1, um Informationen zu bewährten Verfahren für den Umgang mit Übungsdateien während einer Schulungssitzung zu erhalten. Übung 1 enthält auch wichtige Informationen im Zusammenhang mit dem Prinergy Client und Server, die für den Kunden hilfreich sein können.

Was Sie wissen müssen

Erstellen und Verwenden einer Form-Proof-Prozessvorlage

Die Form-Proof-Prozessvorlage enthält mehrere Abschnitte. Jeder Abschnitt definiert einen Teilprozess des Proof-Prozesses.
Ganz oben im Dialogfeld Form-Proof-Prozessvorlage befindet sich die Liste Output To (Ausgabe auf). Anhand dieser Liste wählen Sie das geeignete Dateiformat für das Ausgabegerät, das Sie im Abschnitt Device (Gerät) ausgewählt haben. Je nach ausgewähltem Dateiformat stehen in der Prozessvorlage unterschiedliche Optionen zur Verfügung. Aus diesem Grund sollten Sie ein Ausgabeformat auswählen, bevor Sie die anderen Optionen in der Prozessvorlage festlegen.
Die Prozessvorlage enthält die folgenden Abschnitte:

Copydot (Copydot)
Hier wird festgelegt, wie Copydot-Dateien behandelt werden. Wenn Sie den Bereich Copydot aktivieren, konvertiert das System Copydot-Bilder automatisch, um während der Ausgabe die optimale Qualität zu erzielen. Deaktivieren Sie den Bereich Copydot nur, wenn mindestens einer der folgenden Gründe vorliegt:

  • Die Seiten enthalten keine Copydot-Bilder.
  • Die Ausgabe erfolgt in der Auflösung des Zielausgabegeräts.
  • Sie benötigen keine qualitativ hochwertigen Copydot-Bilder in den Form-Proofs.

ColorConvert (ColorConvert)
Hier werden die erforderlichen Informationen geliefert, um Farbdaten einer PDF-Datei an den entsprechenden Farbraum für die Endausgabe anzupassen. Der Endausgabefarbraum wird dann in den Farbraum des der Seite zugeordneten Ausgabegeräts umgewandelt. Die Ausschieß-Proof-Ausgabe simuliert somit die vorgesehene Endausgabe.

Layout (Layout)
Hier wird festgelegt, wie Prinergy die Seiten auf dem Ausgabemedium positionieren soll.

Render (Darstellen)
Hier wird die Ausgabeauflösung festgelegt, sowie die Art, wie Prinergy Sonderfarben behandelt.

Calibration & screening (Kalibrierung & Raster)
Hier werden Dateiinformationen zur Kalibrierung und Rasterung gegeben.

Processed file options (Optionen für verarbeitete Dateien)
Identifiziert die Dateibenennungsparameter.

File format (Dateiformat)
Gibt das Format und die Komprimierungseinstellungen der Ausgabedateien an.

Device (Gerät)
Hier ist das Ausgabegerät angegeben.

Include JDF for digital print (JDF für Digitaldruck beifügen)
Aktivieren Sie diesen Bereich, wenn Sie Ausgaben für einen Digitaldrucker erzeugen.

Marks (Marken)
Legt fest, wie Marken gehandhabt werden.

  • Prozessvorlagenname: XX_Imposed PDF Proof (XX_Imposed PDF Proof) (<XX> sind dabei Ihre Initialen).
