Note: Changing a media configuration’s Emulation settings for a substrate effect will change how the media configuration reproduces color. For the best color control, create a custom ICC profile for the custom media configuration. Also process a test file to evaluate the results.

Press Mottle

Press mottle is the spotty or uneven appearance of press ink on paper. Typically, it is most visible in solid areas.

Mottle

Specifies the degree of press mottle to emulate on a proof. Choose one of the following options:

  • None: turns off the emulation of press mottle
  • Fine: emulates fine mottle texture
  • Medium: emulates medium mottle texture
  • Coarse: emulates coarse mottle texture

Intensity (0 - 100 %)

Specifies how much mottle texture to emulate. An intensity of 1% appears lighter than an intensity of 100%. Decimals are not allowed.

Paper Grain

Specifies whether to emulate the grain seen on press sheets for the selected paper type. Choose one of the following options:

  • None: turns off the emulation of paper grain
  • Paper Grain: emulates the grain seen on press

Corrugation

The Corrugation area defines the characteristics of the corrugation bands. The flutes in cardboard often appear as bands in the printed piece.

Banding Orientation

Turns on and off emulation of a corrugated substrate, such as cardboard. Choose one of the following options:

  • None: turns off emulation of corrugation
  • Vertical: turns on emulation of corrugation and places the bands vertically on the proof
  • Horizontal: turns on emulation of corrugation and places the bands horizontally in the proof

Note: The corrugation banding is oriented with the proof, not the sheet.

Banding Type

Specifies whether to emulate dark thin bands or light thin bands. Select Dark for dark thin bands, and select Light for light thin bands.

Intensity

Specifies the intensity of the bands. Bands with higher intensity are more visible on the proof. Bands with lower intensity are less visible on the proof.

Pitch

Specifies the pitch of the bands. The pitch appears as more or less space between the bands.

Width

Specifies the width of the bands.
