A custom mark consists of an image file and the SMK file that stores its positioning rules.

1. Skip this step if your workflow does not require a TIFF mark in the output. If your workflow requires TIFF marks, you must wrap the image in both an EPS file and a PDF file.
   1. Prepare the TIFF image in your source software.
   2. Use Adobe Illustrator to create a new document with the exact dimensions as the TIFF image.
   3. Place the TIFF image into the document.
2. Save the image document as a EPS file.
   Set the preview as recommended for your software version, and enable the option for including linked files. 
3. Save the image document as a PDF file, ensuring that the PDF has exactly the same dimensions as the EPS file.
   Because Adobe Illustrator saves EPS file dimensions to the artwork bounding box, you should create the PDF the same way. 
   • Select the Artboard Tool. In the Artboard Options dialog box, under Presets, select Fit to Artwork Bounds, and save the file as a PDF file.
   • Or, use Acrobat Distiller to create a PDF version of the EPS file with exactly the same dimensions.
4. Place the PDF and EPS image files into the Marks folder.
5. Select Resources > New SmartMark > Custom Mark.
6. Edit the properties:
   1. Give the new mark file a suitable name.
   2. Locate and select the mark image file.
   3. Edit the anchor and placement details as needed.
   4. Use the Duplicate fields to easily duplicate the mark. Enter the number of times to duplicate the mark, select the direction of the duplicates (horizontal or vertical), and enter the distance (gap) between them.
7. Save the mark to the SmartMarks folder in the configured Preferences folder location for marks.
   Mark image files can reside anywhere in the Marks folder or subfolders.
   Note: If you add a custom EPS mark image file with the same file name as an existing mark image file, the original file is overwritten.

The new custom mark is added to the Marks list.

When you add the custom mark to a job, the SmartMark rules will retrieve the correct image file for previewing and printing.

To use PostScript-based marks such as the collation marks and bar code marks, you must enable the Output PS marks flats for PJTF/JDF option on the Output tab in the Preferences dialog box

Las marcas personalizadas están formadas por un archivo de imagen y un archivo SMK donde se guardan las reglas de posicionamiento.

1. Omita este paso si el flujo de trabajo no requiere una marca TIFF en la salida. Si el flujo de trabajo requiere marcas TIFF, debe envolver la imagen tanto con un archivo EPS como con un archivo PDF.
   1. Prepare la imagen TIFF en el software de origen.
   2. Utilice Adobe Illustrator para crear un documento nuevo con las dimensiones exactas de la imagen TIFF.
   3. Coloque la imagen TIFF en el documento.
2. Guarde el documento de imagen como archivo EPS.
   Defina la vista previa como recomiende la versión del software y habilite la opción para incluir archivos vinculados. 
3. Guarde el documento de imagen como archivo PDF, asegurándose de que el PDF tenga exactamente las mismas dimensiones que el archivo EPS.
   Debido a que Adobe Illustrator guarda las dimensiones del archivo EPS en el cuadro de limitación del material gráfico, debe crear el PDF de la misma forma. 
   • Seleccione la herramienta Artboard. En el cuadro de diálogo Opciones de Artboard, en Ajustes predeterminados, seleccione Ajustar a límites de gráfico y guarde el archivo como PDF.
   • O bien, utilice Acrobat Distiller para crear una versión PDF del archivo EPS con exactamente las mismas dimensiones.
4. Coloque los archivos de imagen PDF y EPS en la carpeta Marks.
5. Seleccione Recursos > Nueva SmartMark > Marca personalizada.
6. Edite las propiedades:
   1. Especifique un nombre adecuado para el nuevo archivo de marca.
   2. Busque y seleccione el archivo de imagen de marca.
   3. Edite los detalles de ubicación y de anclaje según proceda.
   4. Utilice los campos Duplicar para duplicar fácilmente la marca. Introduzca el número de veces que va a duplicar la marca, seleccione la dirección de los duplicados (horizontal o vertical) e introduzca la distancia (hueco) entre ellas.
7. Guarde la marca en la carpeta SmartMarks en la ubicación de la carpeta Preferences configurada para las marcas.
   Los archivos de imagen de marca se pueden encontrar en cualquier ubicación dentro de la carpeta Marks o de sus subcarpetas.
   Nota: Si agrega un archivo de imagen de marca EPS personalizada con el mismo nombre de archivo de un archivo de imagen de marca que ya existe, el archivo original se sobrescribe.

La nueva marca personalizada se agrega a la lista Marcas.

Cuando se agrega la marca personalizada a un trabajo, las reglas de SmartMark recuperarán el archivo de imagen correcto para presentarlo en una vista previa e imprimirlo.
