Hardware and operating system

Prinergy VPS+ 9.0 5 requires Mac OS X 10.14 15 or later. Apple recommends you have at least 1 GB of RAM; with 2GB or more of RAM as images will display more quickly. The Prinergy VPS+ software performs very well running on Macintosh computers with a 2.x GHz processor or better. Like all graphics-intensive software, it will perform even performance is better with a DualMulti-Core Intel processor or betterMx processors.

Prinergy VPS+ 9.0 5 requires a Windows 7 or Windows 10. The basic Basic Windows system requirements for those operating systems will should be sufficient to run the Prinergy VPS+ software. See your Windows operating system manual for details.


Supported file types

The Prinergy VPS+ software will open preview files that have the with file name extension extension .VPS  file VPS produced by the Prinergy workflowworkflows.The Prinergy

VPS+ software will also open high-resolution TIFF files with a file name extension of .TIF, as long as they conform internally to the structure of a preview file, that is, they were created via Output to Virtual Proof for Prinergy or any other workflow system. provided they are 1-bit files.

Additionally VPS+ can open LEN files for viewing, though it will first create a TIFF translation file from the LEN file, and then opened the translated TIFF.

When outputting files form Prinergy, you should always select Advanced TIFF Tags in Prinergy Output Process Templates, in order to embed color definitions and geometry information in VPS and TIFF files. If Advanced TIFF Tags are included in the files, VPS+ will recognize spot color names and display their color equivalents. 

VPS+ is able to extract geometric information (such as trim size, bleed and imposition page number) for imposed VPS/TIFFs output from Prinergy workflow systems. This geometry and position information is written as proprietary Kodak tags into the headers of the files. VPS+ has UI selections that allow display of imposition information, press sheet, page and bleed edges, page numbers and type safety edges.

There is no ISO standard for imposition tags, and VPS+ is not able to read proprietary imposition tags from TIFFs produced by other workflow systems.


Resolution recommendationsResolution

Generally, the lowest useful resolution of preview files is about 150 dpi. The Prinergy VPS+ software can handle 2400 dpi files without problems for single pages.

Impositions should be no higher than 1200 dpi. VPS+ can only open a single surface at a single time do to memory limitations.
