Prinergy Virtual Proofing System Plus (VPS+) allows you to preview pages/artwork and impositions/layouts that have been output as 1one-bit VPS or TIFF files. You can use VPS+ to identify errors before physical proofs or plates are made. Use Prinergy VPS+ software to check imposition/layouts, registration, layered PDF versioning, trapping, image placement and color breaks.
VPS+ was created developed to replace the functionality of the original Kodak Virtual Proofing Software (VPS), originally created more than 20 almost 25 years ago. The code base for the original VPS, now referred to as "VPS Classic", has reached the end of development life and is not compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina, 11.0 Big Sur, 12.0 Monterey and above. There will be no more development of VPS Classic, as the coding environment used to create it was created in is no longer supportedavailable. Prinergy users who require soft proofing on the latest macOS must use VPS+.
In VPS+, the functionality of VPS Classic has been merged with the functionality of Kodak TIFF Assembler Plus software. This combination of features provides a comprehensive suite of soft-proofing tools, as well as flexographic layout tools, and a toolkit of features for the reformatting of one-bit TIFF files.
VPS+ is still under development and although we are working continue to work hard to provide all equivalent functionality with VPS Classic, there are still functional gaps between VPS Classic and VPS+. We continue to close these gaps with each new release.
Currently, we recommend that VPS+ only be installed only on macOS systems that do not support VPS Classic. For legacy macOS systems and for Windows systems, we recommend that users continue to use VPS Classic.
By default, the Workshop installer only installs VPS+ on macOS 10.15, 11.0 and 12.0. If the Workshop installers detect installer detects a legacy macOS or a Windows OS, it will install VPS Classic.
