When upgrading the primary server running on Windows 2008 R2 operating system with Double-Take 5.3, perform the tasks listed in the specified order.

  1. Disconnect the PrinergyDB replication set on the primary server:
    1. Click Start > Programs > Double-Take > Double-Take Replication Console to open the Replication Console.
    2. Expand Discovered Servers.
    3. Right-click the primary server in the list, select Logon, and log on with valid credentials.
    4. Make sure that the mirroring process has completed.
    5. Right-click the PrinergyDB replication set and select Disconnect.
  2. Upgrade the primary server.
  3. Upgrade the secondary (failover) server.
  4. The PrinergyDB replication set must be upgraded to replicate the Oracle 12 database that is used in Prinergy 8.0. This procedure needs to be completed only if you are upgrading from a version earlier than 7.5.0.  If you are at 7.5.0 or later, this step can be skipped.  This procedure requires interacting with services and running command line scripts. If you need assistance completing the following steps, contact your local Response Center. 
    To upgrade the replication set:
    1. Download the DoubleTake5.3_Oracle12.zip file from Partner Place at https://partnerplace.kodak.com/ to both the primary and failover servers.
    2. On both the primary and failover servers, stop the Double-Take service:
      1. Go to Start > Administrative Tools > Services.
      2. Right-click the Double-Take service, and select Stop.
    3. Upgrade Double-Take on the failover server:
      1. On the failover server, unzip the DoubleTake5.3_Oracle12.zip file anywhere on the disk. That location will be referred to as UNZIP_FOLDER in the steps below.
      2. Execute UNZIP_FOLDER\Upgrade.cmd.
      3. When prompted to continue, type y for yes.
    4. Upgrade Double-Take on the primary server:
      1. On the primary server, unzip the DoubleTake5.3_Oracle12.zip file anywhere on the disk. That location will be referred to as UNZIP_FOLDER in the steps below.
      2. Execute UNZIP_FOLDER\Upgrade.cmd.
      3. When prompted enter J: for the drive where the Oracle Database resides.
      4. When prompted enter the name of the failover server.
      5. When prompted for the name of another server to be notified, enter n for no.
  5. Reconnect the PrinergyDB replication set on the primary server after the successful upgrade:
    1. On the primary server, click Start > Programs > Double-Take > Double-Take Replication Console to open the replication set.
    2. Expand Discovered Servers.
    3. Right-click the primary server in the list, select Logon, and log on with valid credentials.
    4. Select the primary server in the list and go to Tools > Connection Manager.
    5. On the Servers tab, verify that the following details are correct:
      Source Server = <primary server>Replication Set = <PrinergyDB Replication Set>Target Server = <failover server>Route = <local IPv4 IP address:6320> (default value should be correct); Mappings = <One To One>.
    6. On the Orphans tab, select the Move/Delete Orphan Files check box.
    7. Select Connect (at the bottom).
      The Prinergy DB replication set should have a green check mark and start mirroring.
    8. Close or quit Double-Take Replication Console.

Note: After completing the upgrade of all servers, a failover test must be completed to ensure the hot standby support is working correctly.
