This guide describes how to upgrade the Kodak InSite Prepress Portal Enterprise software to version 8.0 or later.
The Prepress Portal Enterprise 8.0 upgrade is available for systems running Prepress Portal 7.0.1 on Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2. Customers that use earlier versions of Prepress Portal must upgrade to InSite 7.0.1 before upgrading to version 8.0.
Prepress Portal 8.0 satellite servers require Kodak Prinergy Workflow or Prinergy Workflow Packaging Automation Expansion Pack 7.5 and later.
Important:
If your system is not using the Prepress Portal 7.0.1 software, do not attempt this upgrade and contact your local Response Center representative for assistance.
Your Enterprise system cannot be in a mixed environment. Before you begin the overall upgrade of your Enterprise system to version 8.0, all servers must be running Prepress Portal 7.0.1.
If the installed Prinergy version used with InSite satellite servers is not 7.5 or later, upgrade the Prinergy servers before upgrading Prepress Portal Enterprise to version 8.0.
If you need assistance to upgrade to Prepress Portal 8.0, contact your local Response Center representative.
The upgrade of the Prepress Portal Enterprise system includes multiple steps. The satellite servers must be upgraded first and all satellites should be upgraded in a timely manner prior to upgrading the Main Enterprise server and a Standby server if it exists.
Note: The order of the multiple steps differs from earlier upgrades for Enterprise. This is due to the changes that were made to incorporate salted passwords. Please be certain to follow the steps in the exact order as they appear in this guide for version 8.0.
The Main Enterprise server must be upgraded after all of the satellite servers are upgraded in order to fully configure the changes necessary for salted passwords. If a Standby Enterprise server exists, it should be upgraded immediately after completing the upgrade on the Main Enterprise server. It is to your advantage to upgrade the Main Enterprise (and Standby server, if applicable) as soon as possible in order to be able to fully use the new salted passwords. In addition if you are in a Closed Topology, the new HTML5 functionality in Preview and Arrange will not work until the Enterprise server is upgraded. This limitation does not affect Open Topology.
Confirm that the installed version of your workflow software is compatible with Prepress Portal 8.0 (See the Prepress Portal 8.0 Release Notes.) You may need to upgrade the workflow software before you upgrade the Prepress Portal software.
For more information, see the current Prepress Portal Release Notes and the InSite Client Configuration Technical Bulletin on Cloud Help, and the Prepress Portal System Administration Guide on https://partnerplace.kodak.com/.
Time required
Allow sufficient time for the upgrade process.
The general installation of version 8.0 will take approximately 30 minutes on each server.
When the satellite servers are being upgraded, only the satellite server that is being upgraded is unavailable. The customers associated with this satellite cannot access their jobs.
When the Main Enterprise server upgrade is in progress, Prepress Portal is not online and your customers do not have access to their jobs.
